Introduction to Classical Music Appreciation

In this foundation course, learners will appreciate classical music (also known as Western Art Music) from four major music eras: Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Twentieth Century. Learners will recognise the major composers from each era and listen to recordings of their significant works. They will understand each era's distinctive features and musical genres and use appropriate vocabulary to discuss classical music. They will also identify and appreciate classical music that is found in popular culture.
